A little about my pets....

I've had LOTS of pets over the years. My first was a cat named "Kitty."  Hey, I was only 11!  She was a sweet kitty. Then after I got married and moved to Japan, we got a dog that we named "Hashi," which means "chopsticks" in Japanese.  After we got back to the states, we got another dog, an AKC registered Siberian Husky that we named "Kiana Tanana Galena." She and Hashi didn't get along very well.  Kiana, "Kiki," ended up having six puppies by some cad that somehow got into my fenced in yard. I was divorced by this time, and I kept one of her boys that we named "Mo," because when he was little, he had a white stripe down his head that looked like a mowhawk.  Then Hashi, then 13, developed cancer, and we had to put her down.  Later, an adorable, little puppy got stuck in a neighbor's back yard who didn't want a puppy, so I took him home and he became known as "Zeus."  Zeus and Mo together were terrors! Unfortunately, I had to give them up, since a neighbor claimed they beat up his adult, male rottweiler. Sure, mine had no scratches or bite marks or anything, and his dog, that was 3 times as big as either of mine was "attacked."

Some pics of my dogs....

(Coming soon!)

While I had 2 dogs, I brought home my cat, Sammy. Some pictures of her, and my other 2 cats can been seen at my pics page.  Sammy's now 9 and is pleasingly plump. She has such a soft, squeaky meow for such a big kitty.  A month after I got Sammy, I brought Smelly Cat home. I picked him up in Florida, when he was only 4 weeks old. We were about 1 mile down the road, when he... uh, well, he earned his name! He messed himself and stunk up the car! So I brought him back to my step-sister's for a quick bath, and while she was holding him up, my (then) brother-in-law said, "That's really a smelly cat."  I watched the TV show "Friends" and that was about the time Pheobe's "hit" song, "Smelly Cat" was popular.  I tried thinking up other names for him, but nothing seemed as appropriate. Smelly is a Japanese Bobtail.  He has diabetes, and I have to give him an insulin shot twice a day. I noticed he was drinking for a long time, and then peeing for a long time.  Then I noticed he looked real skinny, so I brought him into the vet's office. He had lost 3 pounds!  He seems to be doing lots better now that he's on insulin.

About a year or so after I got Smelly, I saw an adorable, fluffy orange kitty in the pet store that was being adopted out from a shelter, so I carried her around the store for a little while, and decided to take her home.  "Chrissie" has become a HUGE kitty!  She's a Maine Coon. She's my cuddliest cat; always crawling up on my lap and falling asleep. In the colder months, she'll crawl under my blankets and cuddle up with me and fall asleep.  She really loves back rubs.  I entered her in a Garfield look-alike contest, but she was robbed!
